PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Erik Grip (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Erik Grip looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Grip is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Santana works his way to full guard. Good work.

Grip is breathing heavily. Santana looking for a sweep. Not yet Santana, not yet. Santana working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Grip has passed into half guard!
Santana is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Santana trying to control from the bottom.
Santana misses with some strikes from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Grip prevents Santana from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Grip closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Grip is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Santana looks calm but he's in trouble here. Grip gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Santana is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Grip lets go of the hold and Santana can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Erik Grip!
