The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with O Brien, pushing him back against the cage.
John tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
O Brien tries for a takedown. No joy.
John breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
John blocks the body kick.
O Brien darts in trying to clinch
and John counters with a shoot takedown. O Brien fights it but they end up in guard.

John shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in O Brien's guard.

O Brien is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of John's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take John's back!

That was a close second round but I would say that Chris John will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and John counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

John is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
O Brien feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Chris John.
Well John has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
