Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sam The Tree (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George St Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam The Tree!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, George St Pierre!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pierre drives through with a takedown into guard.
The Tree thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The Tree is looking to sweep but instead, Pierre has passed into half guard.

Pierre is trying to work for a kimura but The Tree is defending well.

Pierre is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so The Tree is just riding it out for now. Pierre eventually gives up the hold.

Pierre wants to work for an arm triangle but The Tree is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Pierre is looking to take a break and control but The Tree is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Pierre is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, The Tree has managed to free his arm - good work.

The Tree is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pierre is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Pierre is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so The Tree is just riding it out for now. Pierre eventually gives up the hold.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
The Tree stuffs the takedown attempt from Pierre. Pierre gets slowly back to his feet.

The Tree shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Pierre is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The Tree missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
It looks like The Tree is going to stand back up.
The Tree is looking to stall here but Pierre recovers full guard.
The Tree content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Pierre keeping full guard, as The Tree tries to pass.
The Tree is pushing down on Pierre's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pierre is fighting to maintain full guard but The Tree has managed to sneak the leg through.

The Tree winds up and cracks Pierre with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Pierre trying to control from the bottom.
The Tree working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The Tree wants to pass the guard but Pierre is defending well.
Pierre wants to control but The Tree is keeping busy.
Pierre tries to get to full guard but The Tree has control of the leg.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Pierre has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. The Tree is working away from the top position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The Tree shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pierre napping and manages to drive through into side control!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam The Tree dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


The Tree misses with a series of wild punches.
Pierre tries a head kick but it misses.

The Tree shoots in and bounces Pierre off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The Tree content to stall in guard here.
Pierre throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Pierre utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The Tree avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Pierre keeping full guard, as The Tree tries to pass.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Pierre has an active guard here but The Tree has managed to pass into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pierre is refusing to be controlled, as The Tree sits in half guard.
The Tree landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

The Tree is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pierre defends it well.
Pierre is looking to control The Tree's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pierre avoid being mounted?
Pierre wants to get back to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pierre is staying active underneath The Tree, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Pierre is looking to control The Tree's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pierre avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The Tree scores with a takedown into Pierre's guard.

Pierre is looking for a triangle but The Tree pushes his legs off easily.
The Tree trying to control the position from guard on top but Pierre is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The Tree has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
The Tree wanted to stand there but Pierre had control of the position.
The Tree throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Pierre trying to keep a closed guard but The Tree is proving a slippery customer.
Pierre controlling the position.
The Tree wants to control from the top but Pierre keeps moving.
The Tree pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pierre is keeping the position for now.
Pierre manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. The Tree manages to get himself to full guard.

Pierre drops back, looking for a kneebar! The Tree looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. The Tree looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from The Tree!
Pierre wants to control but The Tree postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pierre tries to bench press The Tree off him but The Tree keeps the position.
The Tree throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Sam The Tree overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pierre tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but The Tree wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The Tree has control of an arm but Pierre manages to advance to The Tree's back!
The Tree struggling to land strikes to the head as Pierre covers up.
The Tree throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
The Tree lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Pierre hold on?!
Pierre wants to control his opponent's hands but The Tree gets his hands free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sam The Tree dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



The Tree closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - The Tree lands in his opponent's guard.
The Tree throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The Tree is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Pierre has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. The Tree is looking to defend but Pierre has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for The Tree! Pierre pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, The Tree taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). George St Pierre!
