Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between D Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Augustine Grimli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, D Day!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Augustine Grimli!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Grimli looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Day wants to sweep here but Grimli controlling him for the moment.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Grimli not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Day has his foot on Grimli's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Grimli works his way back into a safe position though.
Grimli won't allow Day to sweep him here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Grimli stays in close to Day's body and controls the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Day tries to kick Grimli off but Grimli keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Grimli seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
I looks like Grimli might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Grimli drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Grimli is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Day tries to hold on but Grimli postures up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Day is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Augustine Grimli dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Grimli shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Day napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Day is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Day is looking for a sweep.
Day is trying to control Grimli's posture but Grimli avoids it.
Day is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Grimli is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Grimli is staying tight to Day's torso, preventing him from escaping.

and Grimli counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Day has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Grimli can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Day tries to bench press Grimli off him but Grimli keeps the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Grimli looks to score with a jab to the body but Day is just out of range.
Day misses with a takedown attempt

and Grimli counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Grimli.
Augustine Grimli has got the better of the ground game so far.

Day had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Grimli is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Day Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Grimli's back instead.
Grimli turns into Day and is now in his guard.

Day working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Grimli doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Grimli manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Grimli is taking a breather. Day says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Grimli looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Day tries to get to full guard but Grimli has control of the leg.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
