The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kobayashi tries to clinch up. Stevensson looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Kobayashi stuffs the takedown. Stevensson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Kobayashi fails with an attempt to clinch.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Stevensson misses with a hook from the clinch. Kobayashi landing knees to the head.
Stevensson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Stevensson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kobayashi.

Stevensson has had enough of the clinch but Kobayashi keeps him there for the moment. Kobayashi connects with a knee to the head.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kobayashi is on top in guard.
Kobayashi should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kobayashi makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Kobayashi wants to control from the top but Stevensson keeps moving. Kobayashi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kobayashi passes into half guard. Stevensson regains full guard. Nicely done. Stevensson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kobayashi postures up in Stevensson's guard and throws a big left but Stevensson blocks it. Stevensson keeping moving, preventing Kobayashi from controlling successfully. Kobayashi thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Stevensson tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters roll with the hold and Stevensson manages to kick Kobayashi off! Kobayashi jumps back into Stevensson's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Stevensson tries to clinch there but Kobayashi circles away.

Kobayashi tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Kobayashi tries to clinch up and Stevensson counters with a good low kick that Kobayashi was not able to check. Micheal Stevensson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kobayashi is looking to clinch but Stevensson is avoiding it.
Stevensson fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kobayashi. Stevensson shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Micheal Stevensson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kobayashi closes the distance looking to clinch and Stevensson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Kobayashi is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stevensson stands up and waves to Kobayashi to follow him. Stevensson throws a nice head kick!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Kobayashi takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Kobayashi stops Stevensson from getting back to his feet.
Stevensson has hold of Kobayashi's hands but Kobayashi slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Stevensson wants to get back to his feet.
Kobayashi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Stevensson! Kobayashi connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Kobayashi scoring with strikes but Stevensson is staying in there. Kobayashi is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Stevensson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Stevensson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Stevensson tries to lock up and control but Kobayashi gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Stevensson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Keneth Kobayashi dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Micheal Stevensson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Stevensson has taken the fight to the clinch.

The fight stays on the outside here - Kobayashi looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kobayashi fails in his attempt to clinch. Kobayashi doesn't succeed with the takedown and Stevensson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kobayashi won't be happy with that. Stevensson working the head and body with strikes. Kobayashi is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Stevensson off and has taken his back! I really don't envy Stevensson right now.
Kobayashi tightening his grip on Stevensson, looking for the choke. Kobayashi has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Stevensson! Can he survive? No! He's out! Kobayashi gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
