PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between hitman Stunner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dough Brinks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stunner kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is "I Made It" (Cash Money Heroes). Dough Brinks acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the ring.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, hitman Stunner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dough Brinks!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stunner tries a low kick but Brinks avoids it.

Stunner gets the takedown into side control.
Brinks can't do much from the bottom here.

Stunner is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brinks is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Stunner wants to stand but Brinks is controlling his arm.
Stunner takes a little break here. Brinks wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Brinks prevents Stunner from moving into mount.
Brinks managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Stunner.
Stunner is looking to take a break and control but Brinks is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Stunner scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Brinks to see if he's OK.

Stunner is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brinks is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Brinks is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Stunner wants to lay and pray for a moment but Brinks keeps working.
Stunner creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Brinks sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Brinks misses the shot to the body.
Stunner misses with a body kick.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stunner looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Brinks fails in his attempt to clinch.
Stunner shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Brinks defends it nicely.

Brinks scores with a takedown into Stunner's guard.
Stunner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Stunner is breathing heavily.

Brinks looking to sit in guard and control but Stunner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Stunner is looking to stand up but Brinks won't let him.
Stunner in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Brinks has a closed guard, preventing Stunner from standing up.

Stunner stands up from Brinks's guard - Stunner perhaps looking for a knockout.
Stunner misses with a takedown

and Brinks counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Stunner's guard now.

Brinks seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Brinks's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Brinks is looking to stand up but Stunner won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dough Brinks dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Stunner tries for a takedown but Brinks circles away easily

and Brinks counters with a shoot takedown. Stunner fights it but they end up in guard.
Stunner is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dough Brinks has got the better of the ground game so far.
Stunner looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Brinks puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Brinks seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Brinks sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stunner defending well though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Brinks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Stunner is trying to control but can't.

Stunner looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Brinks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Stunner has his takedown stuffed

and Brinks counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Stunner!

Brinks controlling from the full mount.
Stunner is looking to improve his position but Brinks isn't that keen on the idea.
Stunner wants to hold on but Brinks pushes him away.
Brinks controlling his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stunner regains half guard.
Stunner is pressing down on Brinks's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stunner controls Brinks momentarily but Brinks frees himself.
Brinks working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Stunner lands some strikes from the bottom.
Brinks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stunner is keeping the position for now.
Stunner wants to sweep but no luck.
Stunner looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dough Brinks showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

and Brinks counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Stunner's guard now.
Brinks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stunner is keeping the position for now.
Stunner is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Brinks is controlling him.
Brinks trying to control but Stunner is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Stunner seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Stunner looking to control.
Brinks wants to get up but he can't break Stunner's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Brinks with a nice head shot there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Stunner shoots in but Brinks avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Stunner throws a nice inside leg kick.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Brinks shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Brinks showed some decent athleticism there.
Brinks seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Stunner does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Stunner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Stunner.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brinks stands and throws Stunner's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Brinks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stunner keeps working.
Stunner manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Stunner wants to control but Brinks is keeping busy.
Stunner is trying to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Brinks is looking to take a break and control but Stunner is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Stunner is controlling Brinks's trapped leg to prevent Brinks from advancing to side control.
Stunner wants to improve his position but Brinks is controlling well.
hitman Stunner has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Stunner is not content to let Brinks control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dough Brinks comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Brinks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
