PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack the Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dominic Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Jack the Ripper has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Jack the Ripper seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack the Ripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dominic Hart!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hart closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hart lands in his opponent's guard.

the Ripper is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Hart wants to control from the top but the Ripper keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
the Ripper is controlling Hart's posture.
Hart stays in close to the Ripper's body and controls the position.
the Ripper looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hart working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Hart looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
the Ripper is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
the Ripper wants to sweep but no luck.
Hart must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hart wants to pass the guard but the Ripper is keeping the position.
the Ripper being controlled here, momentarily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now the Ripper is on top in guard.
the Ripper slips nicely into half guard.

Hart actively working from the bottom here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
the Ripper seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hart does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hart is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but the Ripper pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

the Ripper moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Hart.
Hart looks gassed!
the Ripper in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hart is not content to let the Ripper control the position.
the Ripper slows the pace down.
the Ripper has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

the Ripper is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hart is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

the Ripper stands up.
the Ripper walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hart checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

the Ripper gets the takedown into side control.

the Ripper has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Hart shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so the Ripper counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
the Ripper with a flurry of punches that miss.
the Ripper's corner is telling him to maintain position.
the Ripper working some strikes from top position.
the Ripper trying to control the position from guard on top but Hart is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack the Ripper dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


the Ripper tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hart swats him away and circles back towards the center.
the Ripper fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hart takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like Dominic Hart has been cut.
Hart moves out of range as the Ripper strikes.
Hart shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and the Ripper counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hart!

the Ripper moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Hart has worked his arm free - good work by Hart!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

the Ripper wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hart, who protects the arm well.

the Ripper is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hart has escaped the position, nice work there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
the Ripper wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hart keeps working.

the Ripper is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Hart looks calm but he's in trouble here. the Ripper gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Hart is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! the Ripper lets go of the hold and Hart can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jack the Ripper!
