Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tommy Rawkus!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nielsen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rawkus.
Rawkus lands with a slapping head kick.
Rawkus misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Rawkus counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Nielsen being controlled here, momentarily.
Nielsen is adopting a defensive guard.

Rawkus avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Rawkus scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nielsen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Nielsen is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Nielsen counters with a single leg into guard. Rawkus didn't expect that.
Nielsen really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nielsen controls from within his opponent's guard.
Nielsen works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Rawkus wants to control but Nielsen is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Nielsen is keen to just control but Rawkus is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Rawkus has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nielsen is working away from the top position though.
Rawkus won't allow Nielsen to pass to mount.
Nielsen moves into full mount! Rawkus won't be happy about that!
Rawkus is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Nielsen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rawkus avoids it really well and circles away.
Rawkus shoots and misses

so Nielsen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Nielsen trying to control the position from guard on top but Rawkus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Nielsen stands up and waves to Rawkus to follow him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Nielsen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rawkus works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Nielsen is looking to work some ground and pound but Rawkus has wrist control.
Nielsen thows a big elbow that misses.

Nielsen drops back looking for a leg! Rawkus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rawkus manages to kick Nielsen off! Nielsen jumps back into Rawkus's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Nielsen drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Rawkus dives on top into guard.

Rawkus wanted to stand there but Nielsen had control of the position.

Nielsen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rawkus manages to get himself to full guard.
Nielsen tries to free his leg and advance position but Rawkus is retaining full guard.

Nielsen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Rawkus has his feet on Nielsen's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nielsen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
