Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Basciano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rey Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Rey Jones will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vincent Basciano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rey Jones! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jones looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Basciano misses with a takedown attempt - Jones sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Basciano drops Jones with a left right combo! Basciano follows him down to the ground into side control.
It looks like Rey Jones has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Basciano is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Basciano throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Basciano is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jones has escaped the position, nice work there. Basciano thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Basciano is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Jones is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Sloppy strikes there by Basciano. Basciano really is a fat lump.

Basciano wants to stand but Jones has his arm trapped. Basciano postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Basciano is defended easily by Jones. Jones shoots in for a takedown but Basciano shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Vincent Basciano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones rushes Basciano and presses him up against the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Basciano has Jones pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jones manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vincent Basciano. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jones goes for a takedown in the clinch but Basciano prevents it.
Jones has clasped his hands together around Basciano's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Basciano is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Jones has just dragged him back down to the mat. Jones moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Basciano is pushing Jones's head away, looking to escape. Jones manages to hold on to the position though. Basciano tries to strike but it doesn't land. Basciano is trying to get back to his feet. Basciano tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jones wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Basciano has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Basciano tries to clinch but Jones moves away and Jones counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Basciano changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jones fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Basciano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jones with a flurry of punches that miss. Jones must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Basciano looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Jones makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Basciano wants to sweep but no luck. Basciano striking off his back but it's not causing Jones any problems. Basciano looking for a guillotine here but Jones defends easily.
Jones got a little sloppy there for a moment and Basciano has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jones has managed to get both his arms back between Basciano's legs - danger averted. Basciano wants to stand and escape but Jones is having none of it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Basciano is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jones trying to control but Basciano is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vincent Basciano dominated that round. The cut man is working on Rey Jones's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Basciano fails with a takedown attempt. Basciano darts in trying to clinch and Jones counters with a takedown into side control. Vincent Basciano overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Basciano is looking for a sweep. Basciano gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Basciano might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Basciano actively working from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Basciano pushes Jones off looking to stand but Jones dives back in and keeps control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Basciano scores with a one two! Jones had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Basciano fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vincent Basciano. Basciano shoots for a takedown but Jones saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jones scores with a nice right hand.

Basciano throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Basciano patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Basciano is trying to stick to Jones's back but Jones is turning into Basciano. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Basciano's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Jones. Jones wants to control from the top but Basciano keeps moving.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Basciano can't escape the position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Basciano can't escape the position.

A close second round but Rey Jones will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Rey Jones's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Basciano would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Jones wants to stand but Basciano is controlling the position.

Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Jones gets control of Basciano's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jones will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Basciano accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Basciano wanted to stand there but Jones had control of the position. Jones will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Basciano shoots in and drives through. Jones sprawls well. Jones has Basciano up against the cage in a clinch.
Jones pulls guard effortlessly. Basciano stops Jones from standing up. Jones has a closed guard, preventing Basciano from standing up. Jones manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Basciano manages to get himself to full guard.
Jones won't allow Basciano to get back to his feet. Basciano is looking to sinch up a triangle. Jones throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Basciano's body to avoid the submission. Basciano has instead reached around Jones's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Basciano arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
