PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eric Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeffy Domer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jeffy Domer was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eric Cruz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jeffy Domer!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Sosuke Kotani and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Domer bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cruz is trying to get back to half guard.
Cruz is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Domer asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Cruz takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Cruz is looking for a sweep.
Cruz throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Domer decides to stand back up.
Domer is looking to clinch.

Cruz gets a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Domer is trying to stand back up but Cruz is controlling him

Domer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cruz tries to score a power double leg takedown but Domer sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cruz somewhat.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cruz shoots in and drives through. Domer sprawls well.

and Domer counters with a three punch combo that has Cruz backing up. Cruz nods at Domer to acknowledge the strikes.

and Domer counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Domer.
Cruz jumps guard but Domer stands there with Cruz around his waist. Cruz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Cruz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Domer avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Domer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cruz keeps the fight on the outside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeffy Domer dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Domer throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Cruz was covering up waiting for the punch and Domer finishes the takedown easily into guard.

and Domer counters with a head kick that drops Cruz to the mat! Cruz scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

Domer throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Jeffy Domer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Domer tries to clinch up but Cruz circles away and keeps his distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cruz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Domer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Domer thows a body kick. Cruz tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Domer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cruz's guard.
Cruz has momentary wrist control but Domer slips an elbow through the middle.

Domer stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Domer isn't going anywhere.

Domer explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jeffy Domer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Cruz's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Domer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cruz uses from the top position.

Domer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cruz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
