These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Villanueva clinches with his opponent.
Vlavo tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Villanueva got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vlavo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Villanueva has managed to get both his arms back between Vlavo's legs - danger averted.
Villanueva stands up over Vlavo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
