Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Andre Wells! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hijab Pummel! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A punch combination from Pummel misses. Pummel tries to bum rush Wells with a series of wild strikes but Wells uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Pummel throws a shot from downtown. Wells moves away and avoids it. Wells avoids a punch combination nicely.
Wells shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pummel as he avoids it easily. Wells fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pummel sprawls well initially but Wells persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Pummel gets back to full guard.
Pummel pushes Wells off and gets back to his feet.
Pummel will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pummel accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Pummel wanted to stand there but Wells had control of the position. Pummel working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Pummel trying to stand up but can't free himself from Wells's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Pummel throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wells shoots in and bounces Pummel off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Pummel wants to sweep but no luck. Wells pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Pummel is keeping the position for now. Pummel looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wells is one step ahead there. Pummel throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Pummel scrambles and gets back to his feet.
