The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machida looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Nice sprawl there from Valenzuela as Machida shoots in.
Valenzuela misses with a low kick.
Valenzuela throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Sakura Machida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A clash of legs there as Machida blocks the low kick.
Donk. Valenzuela catches Machida right on the button with a cross.
It looks like Sakura Machida has been cut.
Machida fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Mateus Valenzuela has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sakura Machida.
Valenzuela leaves Machida with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Valenzuela throws a front kick aimed at Machida's knee but Machida avoids it well.
Machida throws a series of punches but Valenzuela moves out of range.
Valenzuela throws a lazy right hand but Machida sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Machida tries to clinch there but Valenzuela circles away.
Valenzuela just misses with a punch to the body.
Valenzuela looks to throw the jab but Machida is out of range.
Valenzuela pivots, looking for a leg kick but Machida is out of range and Valenzuela settles back down.
Valenzuela lands the left hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Machida shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Valenzuela but Valenzuela pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Machida staying out of range there.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Machida fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Valenzuela feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Machida crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
