0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Eddie Valasquez! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Florini takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Florini shoots in for a takedown but Valasquez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Valasquez throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Valasquez swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A punch combination from Valasquez misses. Valasquez throws a hook but Florini avoids it easily. Valasquez looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Florini fails to land the takedown. Valasquez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's better than Florini was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Florini trying to control but Valasquez is having none of it. Florini is going olschool here, as he tries to force Valasquez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Valasquez shrugs it off. Florini is breathing heavily. Florini is working for a guillotine from mount but Valasquez frees his head quite easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Valasquez defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Florini. Valasquez tries to lock up and control but Florini gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Valasquez is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Florini is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Valasquez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Valasquez can do anything to dispel that myth. Valasquez doing his best to control the position. Can he escape? Valasquez tries to hold on but Florini postures up. Florini is looking to work his way around to Valasquez's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Valasquez lands a nice uppercut. Florini jumps guard but Valasquez stands there with Florini around his waist. Florini gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
