Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kevin Reynolds! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Phil Stone! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stone takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
It looks like Phil Stone has been cut. A punch combination from Stone misses. Reynolds tries to bum rush Stone with a series of wild strikes but Stone uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Stone feints and then cracks Reynolds's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Reynolds down. Stone misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Reynolds takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Stone closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stone lands in his opponent's guard. Stone looking to pass the guard. Stone decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Stone throws a nice head kick!
That's one minute gone in the round. Reynolds stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Reynolds wants it to stay on the feet. Stone misses with a few strikes there.
Stone moves into range and connects with a jab. Stone swings for the body but Reynolds moves out of range.
Reynolds looks to score with a jab to the body but Stone is just out of range. Reynolds throws the left hand but Stone avoids the punch easily. Stone shoots in for a double leg but Reynolds sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Reynolds scores with a hook. Reynolds misses the jab. Stone gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Stone clinches with his opponent.
Reynolds is trying to break the clinch but Stone has him pressed against the cage. Reynolds wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Reynolds wants to get back to striking at distance but Stone won't allow it.
Stone breaks the clinch.
A slow jab from Reynolds misses its intended target. Stone shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Reynolds as he jumps to the side. Kevin Reynolds has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Stone.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stone tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Reynolds fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Stone misses with a low kick.
Stone has a takedown stuffed. A combination from Stone does no damage. A low kick from Reynolds is predictable there and Stone counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Stone looks gassed! Stone in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Reynolds tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Stone!
