Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrey Andreev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Kozlov! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Andreev pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Andreev scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Andreev landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Kozlov is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Andreev decides to take the fight back to the feet. Kozlov throws a sloppy head kick and Andreev moves out of range easily. Kozlov shoots and misses and Andreev counters with a low kick, right behind Kozlov 's knee. Andreev throws a quick inside leg kick. Andreev lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Andreev.
It looks like Alexander Kozlov has been cut. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A nice inside leg kick there by Andreev. That's going to slow Kozlov down. Kozlov looks gassed! Kozlov tries to clinch enabling Andreev to counter with a crisp jab. Andreev takes the fight into the clinch. Kozlov has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Kozlov looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Andreev has had enough of the clinch but Kozlov keeps him there for the moment. Andreev pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Andreev. Kozlov shrugs it off though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Andreev throws a series of punches but Kozlov moves out of range. Kozlov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Andreev swats him away and circles back towards the center. Kozlov closes the distance but Andreev moves to the side and Andreev counters with a single leg into guard. Kozlov didn't expect that. Kozlov has momentary wrist control but Andreev slips an elbow through the middle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Andreev lands a couple of elbows. Andreev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Andreev stands up and waves to Kozlov to follow him. Kozlov seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Andreev shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Kozlov is backing up but Andreev catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Kozlov covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Andreev Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!
