The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Rodrigues with that takedown attempt.
Rodrigues has a takedown stuffed.
Rodrigues tries to clinch up but Bartholemeaux circles away and keeps his distance.
Rodrigues closes the distance and clinches up with Bartholemeaux, looking for a takedown. Rodrigues pushes Bartholemeaux against the cage but Bartholemeaux circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rui Rodrigues. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rodrigues shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Rodrigues was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Rodrigues is trying to control here but Bartholemeaux has managed to regain half guard.
Rodrigues wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bartholemeaux keeps working.

Rodrigues is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Bartholemeaux is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Bartholemeaux wants to improve his position but Rodrigues is controlling well.
Rodrigues trying to control from Bartholemeaux's half guard. Bartholemeaux has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Bartholemeaux is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Bartholemeaux uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Nice sprawl there from Bartholemeaux as Rodrigues shoots in.
Rodrigues closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Rodrigues misses with a double jab.
Bartholemeaux just misses with a punch to the body.
Bartholemeaux cracks Rodrigues with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

It looks like Rui Rodrigues has been cut.
Rodrigues is breathing heavily.
Bartholemeaux leaves Rodrigues with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rodrigues with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bartholemeaux to score with a decent uppercut.

Bartholemeaux is looking to clinch.
Bartholemeaux drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Rodrigues right on the button. Rodrigues goes down! Bartholemeaux follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Bartholemeaux gets the win via TKO!
