Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vitor Belfort (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shane Griffin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Vitor Belfort! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Shane Griffin! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice cross by Griffin. Belfort throws a head kick but Griffin moves out of range.
Griffin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Griffin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Belfort doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Griffin. Griffin seems to be looking for submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Belfort throws a head kick that misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Belfort gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Griffin counters with a flying knee. Nice. Belfort misses with a double jab
so Griffin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Belfort is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Griffin is controlling him. Griffin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Belfort wants to stand up but Griffin is controlling him. Griffin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Belfort pushes Griffin off and gets back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Belfort shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Griffin looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Belfort working over Griffin with some ground and pound. Griffin looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Belfort is nestled in close to Griffin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Belfort lands a nice short elbow. Griffin is pressing down on Belfort's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Griffin working for a triangle but Belfort defends it easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Griffin has his foot on Belfort's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Belfort works his way back into a safe position though. Griffin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Belfort wants to stand but Griffin has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Griffin is looking for a triangle here but Belfort uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Griffin tries to get back to half guard but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shane Griffin dominated that round. That's time! Belfort's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Griffin is trying to get an arm triangle but Belfort is defending well. Belfort is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Griffin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Griffin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Belfort gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belfort kicks Griffin off and gets back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Griffin fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Belfort throws a right hand that Griffin ducks under and follows up with a left that Griffin also avoids with ease. Vitor Belfort seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Belfort shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Griffin napping and manages to drive through into side control! Griffin is trying to improve his position. Griffin is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Belfort cracks Griffin with a big elbow. Griffin manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Belfort tries for a takedown but Griffin circles away easily and Griffin counters with a nice double leg into guard. Griffin has gone for a leg lock! Belfort slips out almost immediately though and dives into Griffin's guard. Belfort chips away with some ground and pound. Belfort gets to his feet - Griffin follows without any prompting. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Belfort throws a lazy head kick and Griffin counters with a lovely straight right hand! Belfort throws a sloppy head kick enabling Griffin to counter with a crisp jab. Griffin scores with a takedown into Belfort's guard. Griffin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Griffin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Griffin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Griffin drops back looking for a leg! Belfort is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Belfort manages to kick Griffin off! Griffin jumps back into Belfort's guard. Belfort is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Griffin is controlling him. Belfort wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Griffin manages to pass to side control. Belfort is looking for a sweep. Griffin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Belfort is defending against the submission attempts here by Griffin.

Shane Griffin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and Griffin counters with a nice uppercut. Griffin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Griffin showed some decent athleticism there. Belfort wants to get back to his feet. Griffin is working for a kimura but Belfort is defending it quite comfortably.
Belfort pushes Griffin off looking to stand but Griffin dives back in and keeps control.
Belfort is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Griffin is looking for a kimura but Belfort is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Griffin to get the leverage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Belfort looking for submissions off his back. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Griffin maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Belfort could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Griffin has cracked it and Belfort is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Griffin!
