Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Robbie Carlos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stoney Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlos kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Negro Drama. Robbie Carlos has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stoney Smith! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith throws a big shot that misses. Carlos uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Smith. Smith tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Carlos was well out of range. Poor timing from Smith. Carlos shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Smith manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Carlos drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Smith manages to kick Carlos off! Carlos jumps back into Smith's guard. Smith seems keen to control Carlos's posture. Smith is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carlos is controlling him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carlos drops back looking for a leg! Smith is in trouble here! The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carlos moves away. Smith throws a shot from downtown. Carlos moves away and avoids it. Smith misses with an uppercut. Carlos saw that one coming. Carlos gets a takedown into half guard. Carlos is working for a kimura but Smith is defending it quite comfortably.
Smith tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Smith lands one or two decent shots to the body here. Although from his own half guard, he's not going to be causing too much damage. Carlos has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Smith can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carlos working for a submission but Smith is keeping him at bay. Carlos is breathing heavily. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Carlos avoids the attempt from Smith to control. Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carlos. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smith throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Carlos looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Smith is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Carlos will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Carlos blocks Smith's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Smith tries to lock up and control but Carlos gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Carlos jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Smith manages to avoid the submission attempt. Smith wants to control but Carlos postures up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Despite being in the dominant position, Stoney Smith just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Carlos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Smith jabbing away but nothing is landing. Carlos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Smith tries to roll over but Carlos keeps him under control. Smith trying to control from the bottom.
Carlos seems to be working for a kimura but Smith defends the submission attempt. Smith wants to improve his position but Carlos is controlling well.

Robbie Carlos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Smith throws an overhand right that lands on Carlos's shoulder, as Carlos tries to avoid the shot. Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Carlos to score an easy takedown into full guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Carlos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carlos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Smith is looking to stand up but Carlos isn't so interested in that idea. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Carlos is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Carlos takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Carlos tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes. Smith throws a jab when Carlos was well out of range. Smith throws a good cross that connects.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carlos closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. A slow jab from Smith misses its intended target. Smith throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Smith with a flurry of punches that miss. Smith trying to control but Carlos is working from the bottom. Carlos looking for a triangle here. Smith is fighting it but it looks tight! Carlos pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Smith is tapping out - this one is all over!
