PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Aleks Ijeski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wilhelm Qk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilhelm Qk struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 186.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Wilhelm Qk is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aleks Ijeski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wilhelm Qk!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ijeski darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Qk moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Ijeski wants to stand but Qk is controlling his posture from full guard.
Qk keeping full guard, as Ijeski tries to pass.

Qk had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ijeski is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Qk Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ijeski's back instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Qk biding his time, controlling Ijeski.
Ijeski can't escape the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Qk looking for the RNC.
Ijeski trying to control the hands but Qk won't let him.

Ijeski tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Qk looking for a guillotine from mount but Ijeski is having none of it.

Ijeski is looking to get to half guard.

Qk has control of Ijeski's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ijeski regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Ijeski wants to hold on but Qk pushes him away.
Ijeski knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Qk on the ground.

Qk working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Ijeski wants to hold on but Qk pushes him away.
Qk blocks Ijeski's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Qk is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Ijeski is surviving well by controlling Qk's body position as best he can.

Qk looking to secure an arm triangle but Ijeski defends it well.
Ijeski wants to control but Qk is having none of it.
Ijeski is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Qk is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Ijeski tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Qk looking to control but Ijeski is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Ijeski working to try and regain half guard.
Ijeski is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Qk working for a submission but Ijeski is keeping him at bay.
Ijeski tries to hold on but Qk pushes him away.
Ijeski really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Qk looking to control and managing it successfully.
Ijeski is squirming around, avoiding Qk's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wilhelm Qk dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Ijeski moves into range and clinches up with Qk.
Qk tries for a takedown. No joy.
Ijeski prevents the takedown attempt.

Ijeski breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wilhelm Qk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ijeski scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Qk tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Qk is not content to let Ijeski control the position.

Ijeski stands up and beckons Qk to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Qk misses with a takedown attempt

and Ijeski counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Qk's guard now.
Aleks Ijeski has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wilhelm Qk.

Ijeski is posturing up here but Qk has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Ijeski tries to roll out but it's too tight and Ijeski has to tap! Slick submission there by Qk!
