Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between James Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Angelo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Mike Angelo enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Myers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Angelo!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Angelo.

Angelo tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Angelo has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Angelo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Myers is looking for a sweep.
Myers struggling a bit here.
Myers is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Angelo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Angelo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Myers has escaped the position, nice work there.
Myers wants to get back to his feet but Angelo drags him back down.

Angelo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Myers knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Myers is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Angelo asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Myers tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Angelo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Angelo tries to advance to mount but can't.

Angelo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Angelo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Myers, who protects the arm well.
Myers is looking to reverse the position.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Angelo moves into full mount!

Angelo looking to secure an arm triangle but Myers defends it well.
Myers tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Myers wants to hold on but Angelo pushes him away.

Angelo wants to finish this one by submission but Myers is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Angelo.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Angelo has hold of Myers's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Myers manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Angelo looks gassed!
Myers has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Angelo doesn't have the hooks in and Myers manages to turn into his guard.
Myers stopping the sweep attempt from Angelo.
Angelo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Myers is looking to improve his position but Angelo isn't that keen on the idea.
Myers is trying to stand up.

Angelo is working for a guillotine from mount but Myers frees his head quite easily.

Angelo is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Myers can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Myers misses with the combination.

Angelo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Angelo showed some decent athleticism there.

Angelo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Angelo is pressing down on Myers's thigh, looking to free his foot. Myers is holding on for now.

Angelo seems to be looking for submissions.
Myers looks like he's trying to stand up.
Myers knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Angelo on the ground.

Angelo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Myers is just riding it out for now. Angelo eventually gives up the hold.
Angelo is breathing heavily.

Angelo is working for a submission of some sort.
Myers wants to get back to full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Myers moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Angelo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Angelo passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Angelo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Angelo tries to advance to mount but Myers denies him.
Mike Angelo has got the better of the ground game so far.

Angelo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Myers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Myers is looking for a sweep.
Myers is trying to buck Angelo off.
Angelo tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Angelo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Angelo working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Myers tries to improve position but can't.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Angelo fails with a takedown attempt.
Angelo has a takedown stuffed.
Myers misses with a series of wild punches.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Myers misses with a wild combination.

Myers gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Angelo to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Myers is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Angelo drops back looking for a leg! Myers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Myers manages to kick Angelo off! Angelo jumps back into Myers's guard.
Myers looking for a sweep. Not yet Myers, not yet.
Myers lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Angelo!
Myers misses with a head shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Angelo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Myers closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Myers displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Angelo.

Angelo gets the takedown into side control.

Angelo tries for a kimura but Myers is defending well.

Myers is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Angelo advances nicely into full mount.

Angelo looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Angelo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Angelo goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Myers turns into him and now he's in Angelo's guard.

Angelo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Angelo has his foot on Myers's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Myers works his way back into a safe position though.
Myers tries to stand but Angelo is controlling from the bottom.
Myers trying to control the position from guard on top but Angelo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Angelo wants to sweep but no luck.
Myers would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Angelo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Angelo is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Myers has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Myers!
Angelo tries to land a sweep but no joy.
James Myers has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Myers postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Angelo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Myers defends well.

Angelo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Myers has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Myers stands and steps away. Angelo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Myers scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Mike Angelo is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A combination from Myers does no damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Mike Angelo.
I've got Angelo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
