Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Thiago Cunha and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Ben works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Cross is looking to stand up but Ben isn't so interested in that idea.

Ben gets to his feet. Cross looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

John Cross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dover Ben.

Ben escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cross drives through and clinches with Ben against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ben is pressed up against the cage. Cross has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ben down to the mat. Ben avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dover Ben dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Ben lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cross's sensitive parts.

Cross is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Cross lands with a kick to the ribs.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ben stuffs the takedown attempt from Cross. Cross gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Cross. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Ben counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

and Ben counters with a good low kick that Cross was not able to check.

and Ben makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Cross really felt that one!
Cross misses with a double jab
and Ben counters with a big head kick but Cross shrugs it off.
Dover Ben is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cross fails to land with a series of punches.
Cross swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ben counters with a low kick, right behind Cross 's knee.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Cross throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Ben with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dover Ben showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Cross's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Cross. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Ben is trying to break free.
Cross wants to break free but Ben has control.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Ben tries to pull guard but Cross holds him up against the cage and eventually Ben drops back down to his feet.
Ben landing some nice looking knees to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ben stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

John Cross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dover Ben.
Ben takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
A body shot lands from Cross.
Cross drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ben gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Come on Ben - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Ben wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cross has him pressed against the cage.
Cross is pressed up against the cage. Ben has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cross down to the mat. Cross avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Cross counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Ben!


Ben is rocked!
Cross seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Ben is still in real trouble! Can Cross finish him?
Cross lands with a punch from half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ben has hold of Cross's hands but Cross slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Cross looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Cross looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ben with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ben can do anything to dispel that myth.

Ben is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cross scores with a couple of nice shots.
Ben really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cross. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cross is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cross decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Cross lands with a big right hook that stumbles Ben - he's out on his feet here! Cross follows up with another monster hook that separates Ben from consciousness! Ben falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Cross stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). John Cross!
