The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Imanari misses with a takedown attempt - Velasquez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A slapping leg kick lands for Velasquez.
Velasquez throws a solid leg kick but Imanari takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Velasquez.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Imanari checks a leg kick.
Imanari takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Imanari takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Imanari tries to clinch up but Velasquez circles away and keeps his distance.

Imanari takes a body punch but keeps moving.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Velasquez throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Imanari on the side of the head.
Kain Velasquez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Velasquez defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Imanari.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Imanari on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Velasquez. Velasquez obviously looking to wear him down.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Velasquez lands with a kick to the temple. Imanari shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Velasquez.
Velasquez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Imanari can do to turn this around?

Shinya Imanari's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Imanari is breathing heavily.
Imanari closes the distance and clinches up with Velasquez, looking for a takedown. Imanari pushes Velasquez against the cage but Velasquez circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Imanari feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Kain Velasquez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Velasquez fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Imanari is out of range.
Imanari shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Velasquez sprawls well. Velasquez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Imanari gets slowly back to his feet.
