The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harvin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kirkland tries to avoid it but Harvin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kirkland to the ground. Kirkland escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kirkland misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Harvin.
Harvin shoots in looking for a takedown. Kirkland tries to sprawl out of it but Harvin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kirkland manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kirkland misses with a wild combination.
Kirkland throws a combination. Harvin tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Joe Kirkland seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kirkland walks forward, straight into a front kick from Harvin.
Harvin takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Kirkland knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Harvin on the ground.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kirkland, as that shot connected.
Harvin dives in and grabs Kirkland's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kirkland pushes down on Harvin's head and hops out.
Kirkland really is a fat lump.
Kirkland lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Harvin circles away quickly and effectively.

Harvin throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Kirkland will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

No joy there for Kirkland, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kirkland fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Harvin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Harvin tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kirkland sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Harvin somewhat.
Harvin seems to have recovered his senses.

Kirkland lands with a big left! Harvin is wobbled badly! Kirkland comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Harvin to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
