PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mickey Henson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shamrock comes to the cage accompanied by Thunder strike. The crowd seem to be enjoying Henson's choice of entrance music: Die MF Die by Dope. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Shamrock looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mickey Henson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Shamrock closes the distance and clinches up with Henson, looking for a takedown. Shamrock pushes Henson against the cage but Henson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Henson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Shamrock looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Shamrock looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Shamrock!

Henson cracks Shamrock with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Henson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Shamrock looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Shamrock shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Henson as he avoids it easily.

Henson had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Shamrock is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Henson Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Shamrock's back instead.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Shamrock is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Henson connects with a nice short shot to Shamrock's temple.

Henson has control of Shamrock's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Shamrock regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Shamrock turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Henson off and cradles Shamrock's limp body as Henson celebrates with his corner.
