Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vasiliy Lebedenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pauli Purjonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vasiliy Lebedenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Purjonen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lebedenko stuffs the takedown attempt from Purjonen. Purjonen gets slowly back to his feet.
Lebedenko pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Purjonen moves into range and clinches up with Lebedenko.
Purjonen is pressed up against the cage. Lebedenko has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Purjonen down to the mat. Purjonen avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Purjonen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Purjonen tries to land knees in the clinch but Lebedenko avoids the damage to the body.
Purjonen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Purjonen throws a sloppy head kick and Lebedenko moves out of range easily.

Purjonen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lebedenko pinned against the cage. Lebedenko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Purjonen shoots in but Lebedenko avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Purjonen looks to land a combination but Lebedenko avoids it well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lebedenko in particular looking to stall.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Purjonen can do anything to dispel that myth.
Purjonen prevents Lebedenko from moving into mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lebedenko is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Purjonen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Lebedenko can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Purjonen is looking to escape.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Vasiliy Lebedenko just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

and Lebedenko counters with a shoot takedown. Purjonen fights it but they end up in guard.

Lebedenko has Purjonen pressed against the cage, preventing Purjonen from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Lebedenko has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Purjonen is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Purjonen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Vasiliy Lebedenko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Purjonen thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Purjonen wants to stand and escape but Lebedenko is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lebedenko throws a push kick but Purjonen slaps the foot to one side.
And that's the end of the fight!
Pauli Purjonen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Purjonen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
