Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between DJ Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Young comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Zoo kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nelson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Young is fending him off so far but Nelson persists. Nope, Young circles away and we're back to standing. Young throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Nelson dives in and grabs Young's left leg, looking for a takedown. Young pushes down on Nelson's head and hops out. Nelson lands with a shot to the body. Young moves out of range as Nelson strikes. Young pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Young throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Young takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Young misses with a wild body shot. Nelson lands a right hook to the body.

Jake Young is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Young throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nelson. Young throws a leg kick but Nelson moved away. Nelson slips under a jab. Nelson waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Young. Young throws a head kick but Nelson moves out of range.
Nelson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for DJ Nelson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Young lands a jab to Nelson's midsection. Nelson fails to land the takedown.

Nelson checks a leg kick. Young throws a sloppy head kick and Nelson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Young thinking. Nelson throws a sloppy head kick and Young moves out of range easily. Young throws a series of punches but Nelson moves out of range. A head kick by Young misses and Nelson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Young misses with a body shot.
Young throws a head kick that misses. Nelson shoots for a double leg takedown but Young sprawls well. He's pushed Nelson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. A head kick by Young misses and Nelson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Nelson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Young swats him away and circles back towards the center. Young throws a head kick that misses so Nelson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Young keeping full guard, as Nelson tries to pass. Nelson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Young dives on top into guard. Young must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Nelson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Young got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nelson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Young has managed to get both his arms back between Nelson's legs - danger averted. Nelson controlling Young's posture. Nelson wants to stand and escape but Young is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nelson moves out of range as Young throws a body kick.
Young throws a head kick that misses and Nelson counters with a shoot takedown. Young fights it but they end up in guard. Young is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Nelson postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Young is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Nelson, into his guard. Nelson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Young defends well. Nelson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Young is aware though and is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Young wants to get up but he can't break Nelson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Nelson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Young doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Young manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Nelson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Young gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Nelson trying to control the position.

Young is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Young working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Young wants to stand but Nelson is controlling his posture from full guard. Young looking to pass the guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Nelson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Nelson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Young is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Young and Nelson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Young tries to bench press Nelson off him but Nelson keeps the position. Young is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nelson is trying to ground and pound but Young uses the momentary lack of control by Nelson to regain half guard. Nelson is looking for a kimura here.
Nelson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Nelson is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Young defends it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that DJ Nelson will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Nelson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Young is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Nelson. Nelson wants to control but Young postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nelson tries to bench press Young off him but Young keeps the position. Nelson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Nelson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Young's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Young's back! Nelson is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Young knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Young for a finish. Young looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Young showing good submission defense here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Young has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke. Young wants to escape the position.
Nelson is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Young is defending well though. Nelson let's go of the attempt for now. Young trying to get back to his feet but Nelson is in full control for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. DJ Nelson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
And that's the end of the fight! DJ Nelson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Nelson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
