The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Franklyn Lucas and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mussochut closes the distance and clinches.
Mussochut is pressed up against the cage. Struve has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mussochut down to the mat. Mussochut avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Mussochut scores with a jab. Struve acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
It looks like Stefan Struve has been cut.
Mussochut tries a head kick but it misses.
Mussochut takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Mussochut tries to clinch but Struve moves out of range.

Struve is working for takedown but Mussochut is calmly controlling the position for now.
Struve's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Mussochut throws a sloppy head kick
and Struve counters with a single leg into guard. Mussochut didn't expect that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Struve wants to control from the top but Mussochut keeps moving.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Struve wants to control from the top but Mussochut keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
No luck for Struve with that takedown attempt.
Mike Mussochut has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stefan Struve.

Mussochut leaves Struve with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mussochut wants to clinch but Struve slips to the side
and Struve counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Mussochut is breathing heavily.
Mussochut lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Struve shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Mussochut napping and manages to drive through into side control!
A lull in the action here.
Mussochut is looking to regain half guard here but Struve keeps moving and retains side control.

Mussochut is not content to let Struve control the position.

Mussochut tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Struve easily slips into full mount!

Struve can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mussochut is looking to escape.

Mussochut wants to hold on but Struve pushes him away.
Struve takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Mussochut wants to get back to his feet.
Mussochut flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Struve has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
