Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Zarch! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mendez Papillion! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zarch blocks a head kick by Papillion.
Papillion forces Zarch back against the cage and clinches. Papillion has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Zarch is trying to keep an underhook but Papillion manages to get the takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zarch looking for submissions off his back. Zarch actively working from the bottom here. Papillion is controlling the pace.
Zarch looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Papillion drops an elbow to the side of Zarch's head. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Zarch looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Zarch is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Papillion pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zarch looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Zarch is breathing heavily. Papillion moves nicely into side control. Papillion moves into full mount! Papillion looking to control and managing it successfully. Zarch trying desperately to get to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Papillion working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Zarch tries to get back to half guard but can't. Papillion content just to control the position here. Zarch working to try and regain half guard.
Papillion stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet. Papillion shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Papillion showed some decent athleticism there. Papillion decides to return to a standing position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Papillion scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Papillion wants to control but Zarch is keeping him busy. Zarch is looking for a sweep. Zarch looks to move to half guard but instead Papillion has passed into mount! Damn! Papillion controlling the pace for now. Zarch has given up his back here. Will Papillion look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Papillion is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Zarch has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here. A bit of a pause in the action here. Papillion controlling the positon.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Papillion has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Zarch trying to get back to his feet but Papillion is in full control for now. Papillion biding his time, looking for the opening.
Zarch is trying to stand back up. Zarch fending off the submission attempt from Papillion. Papillion loading up with punches from the back mount - how long can Zarch hold on?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mendez Papillion dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Zarch fails with the takedown and Papillion counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Papillion sitting in guard, not really doing much. Papillion stands and steps away. Zarch gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Zarch fails with the takedown and Papillion counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Papillion tries to clinch but Zarch moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Papillion can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Zarch is looking to escape. Papillion looking to secure an arm triangle but Zarch defends it well. Papillion with good strikes from the mount here! Zarch is wriggling around trying to escape.
Papillion takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Papillion lands a big elbow. Zarch regains half guard. Zarch looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zarch tries to kick Papillion off but Papillion keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Zarch is refusing to be controlled, as Papillion sits in half guard. Papillion is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Zarch actively working from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Papillion content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Zarch has hold of Papillion's hands but Papillion slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Papillion looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Despite being in the dominant position, Mendez Papillion just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Papillion tries to close the distance and clinch up but Zarch swats him away and circles back towards the center. Zarch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Papillion closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Zarch to the mat! Zarch manages to get full guard. Zarch is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Papillion is aware though and is defending well. Papillion trying to control but Zarch is working from the bottom. Zarch is working an open guard so Papillion takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Papillion decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Papillion is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Zarch doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Papillion. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Zarch is refusing to be controlled, as Papillion sits in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mendez Papillion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Papillion is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Zarch defends it well. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Papillion in particular looking to stall. Zarch looking for submissions off his back. Papillion is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Zarch pushes Papillion off and gets back to his feet. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Papillion!
Chris Zarch is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Zarch gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Papillion decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Zarch's guard. Mendez Papillion is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Zarch can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Papillion controls the pace. Zarch looking for a triangle here. Papillion is fighting it but it looks tight! Zarch pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Papillion is tapping out - this one is all over!
