Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Armo Kuusela!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Damien Dark!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dark misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kuusela misses with a low kick.
Kuusela throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A thudding body kick lands there by Kuusela!
Kuusela tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kuusela takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Dark bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kuusela throws a lazy head kick
and Dark counters with a head kick that drops Kuusela - he's looking to finish, following his stunned foe to the ground!
Kuusela is positioning himself well to prevent Dark advancing to mount.
Kuusela tries to get to full guard but Dark has control of the leg.
Dark tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Kuusela has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dark is working away from the top position though.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dark wants to get back to his feet.
Kuusela controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
Kuusela tries to get to full guard but Dark has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dark stands up out of the half guard.
Dark misses with a low kick as Kuusela jumps back.
Dark misses with a kick to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kuusela misses with a head kick.
Dark avoids the head kick by Kuusela.
Good work by Dark as he checks the leg kick.
Kuusela throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Dark misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kuusela tries to clinch
and Dark counters with a nice leg kick.
Kuusela throws a sloppy head kick
and Dark counters with a nice leg kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Kuusela crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Dark - the referee stops the clock and Kuusela gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Dark. Kuusela manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Kuusela is breathing heavily.
Dark bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Dark lands a big head kick that sends Kuusela to the canvas! Dark follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Damien Dark!
Damien Dark is the new middleweight champion!
