The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schovit avoids a punch combination nicely.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Schovit.
Schovit misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Thomson clinches up with Schovit and pushes him back against the cage.
Thomson can't break the clinch.
Thomson breaks from the clinch.
Thomson throws a right hand that Schovit ducks under and follows up with a left that Schovit also avoids with ease.
Schovit fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Schovit tries to clinch there but Thomson circles away.
Schovit shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Schovit showed some decent athleticism there.
Thomson wants to improve his position but Schovit is controlling well.
Schovit winds up and cracks Thomson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Schovit postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Schovit accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Thomson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schovit. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thomson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Schovit is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thomson is not content to let Schovit control the position.
Schovit passes the guard and advances to mount!
Schovit is landing with some decent strikes but Thomson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
