PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Jobe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Mamuh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jobe might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Indestructible. Mike Jobe had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Jobe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Mamuh!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jobe gets a takedown into half guard.
Jobe thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Mamuh gets full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mamuh looking to control.
Mamuh looking for a sweep. Not yet Mamuh, not yet.
Jobe wants to stand but Mamuh is controlling his posture from full guard.
Jobe trying to control but Mamuh is working from the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mamuh displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Jobe throws out the jab.
Jobe throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Left hook, right uppercut from Jobe.
Jobe keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

No joy there for Mamuh, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mamuh turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Jobe is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Jobe is breathing heavily.

Jobe tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Mamuh presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Jobe can't escape the position.
Mamuh manages to capitalize on a mistake by Jobe to take his back!
Mamuh controlling well, preventing Jobe from escaping the position.

Mamuh working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
Jobe tries to break free.

Mamuh lands punches and elbows.
Mamuh is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mamuh is riding his opponent, not letting Jobe buck him off.
Jobe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mamuh on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Joe Mamuh.

Mamuh gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Jobe breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jobe looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mamuh is fending him off so far but Jobe persists. Nope, Mamuh circles away and we're back to standing.
Mamuh fails in his attempt to clinch.

Mamuh looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Jobe!
Jobe has given up his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Mamuh dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Jobe stuffs the takedown.
Mamuh avoids the head kick by Jobe.
Jobe tries a head kick but it misses.
Mamuh slips a jab and a cross from Jobe.

and Mamuh counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jobe moves into full guard.
Mamuh controls from within his opponent's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mamuh postures up.

Mamuh controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Let's hope that Mamuh has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Joe Mamuh.
Mamuh has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Mamuh moves into the clinch.
Mamuh jumps guard but Jobe stands there with Mamuh around his waist. Mamuh gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Jobe wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mamuh has him pressed against the cage.

Mamuh manages to pull guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mamuh seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Mamuh is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jobe is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Jobe is trying to stand.
Jobe is trying to get back to full guard.
Well, if Mamuh is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Jobe flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Mamuh not doing much here.
Jobe has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mamuh is working away from the top position though.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Mamuh seems to be looking for submissions.
Jobe tries to kick Mamuh off but Mamuh keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Mamuh with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Mamuh is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jobe doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mamuh.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jobe trying to hold on to Mamuh's head to control him but Mamuh postures up.
Jobe controlling the position for now.
Mamuh works his foot free and advances to mount.
Mamuh prevents Jobe from getting the reversal.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Mamuh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Mamuh fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Jobe throws a head kick that misses

and Mamuh counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jobe!
Jobe is looking to get to half guard.
Mamuh takes Jobe's back, avoiding a couple of desperation strikes from the bottom.
Mamuh just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Jobe tries to escape but Mamuh has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Mamuh has good solid back control here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Mamuh is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Jobe has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Mamuh has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Jobe taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Mamuh doesn't care though - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Joe Mamuh!
