Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mann throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mann throws a push kick but Smith slaps the foot to one side.
Mann avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Smith tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mann moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Good leg kick by Mann there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Smith throws a lazy body kick
and Mann counters with a big head kick but Smith shrugs it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mann darts in trying to clinch
and Smith counters with a one-two to the body.

Mann displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Smith.

Mann throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Smith's head.
It looks like Winston Smith has been cut.
Mann ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away.

Mann lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Mann lands with a hook. Smith tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Mann darts in and clinches Smith up against the cage.

Mann goes for a takedown in the clinch but Smith prevents it.
Mann tries to circle away but Smith has him pinned against the cage.
Mann tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Mann is trying to break the clinch but Smith is controlling him.

Mann gets underhooks to prevent Smith's takedown attempt.
Mann wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mann escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A head kick misses from Mann.
Mann throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Smith forces Mann back against the cage and clinches.
A frustrated look appears on Mann's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Mann prevents the takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Winston Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith is pressed up against the cage. Mann has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Smith down to the mat. Smith avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Smith takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Mann buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mann lets loose with a powerful body kick. Smith will feel that in the morning.
A thudding body kick lands there by Mann!

Mann thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Smith if he has to take too many more of those.
Mann feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Smith's calf.
Mann looks to land a right hand but Smith moved out of range.
Smith takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Smith will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body.

Mann gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Smith counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Smith has Mann pressed against the cage, preventing Mann from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Smith tries to pull guard but Mann won't allow it.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

and Mann counters with a slapping leg kick.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mann throws a body kick that misses.
Smith closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mann to the mat! Mann manages to get full guard.

Smith wants to control from the top but Mann keeps moving.
Mann preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Mann has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Mann wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Smith prevents Mann from getting back to his feet.
Mann looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Smith puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smith trying to control but Mann is having none of it.
Mann is trying desperately to improve position.
Smith breaks from Mann's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Smith is landing with some decent strikes but Mann is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Smith is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Mann can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Smith throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Smith sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smith swings around for an armbar but Mann sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Smith's guard.
Johnny Mann is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
