0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodrigo Velasquez! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flair defending well as Velasquez loads up on a big left hand. Velasquez throws a series of punches but Flair avoids them all with ease. Velasquez misses with a series of wild punches.
Flair shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Velasquez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Flair scoring with punches to the head and body. Flair works a leg free and moves into half guard. Velasquez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Flair. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Flair missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Velasquez avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Flair. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Flair prevents Velasquez from standing back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Flair shoots in looking for a takedown. Velasquez tries to sprawl out of it but Flair keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Flair throws a body punch but Velasquez moves out of range. Velasquez leaves Flair with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Flair shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brock Flair. That's going to take a lot out of him. Flair is trying hard to land a takedown here. Velasquez sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. A shot to de liver by Velasquez. Beautiful body shot. Flair is breathing heavily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! and Flair counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Velasquez's guard now. Flair has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Flair is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Velasquez is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Velasquez has escaped and now he's on top! Velasquez tries to stand but Flair is controlling from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Flair works over Velasquez with some ground and pound from guard. Flair forces his way into half guard.
