Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Butch Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Kempe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Butch Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Kempe!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kempe throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Smith's head.
Kempe looks for a takedown but Smith sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Smith or perhaps it was just good defense by Kempe which made him look bad.
Kempe fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Smith avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kempe throws a wild body kick that Smith sees coming a mile off.
A punch combination from Smith misses.
Tony Kempe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kempe moves in looking to clinch but Smith pushes him off.

BOOM! Kempe connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Kempe trying to control but Smith is having none of it.

The referee warns Smith that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Kempe cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Kempe is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Kempe lands a heavy elbow.
Smith is desperately trying to improve his position but Kempe has a good base and remains in mount.

Smith is working hard here to advance position.
Kempe trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Kempe is landing with some decent strikes but Smith is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Kempe trying to control but Smith is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kempe has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Smith's face.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kempe connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Smith is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kempe sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Smith jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kempe walks away with a smile on his face. Smith gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kempe throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Smith doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kempe counters with a body kick.
Kempe changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Kempe manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kempe is breathing heavily.

Kempe tries a head kick but it misses.
Kempe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Smith looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kempe is fending him off so far but Smith persists. Nope, Kempe circles away and we're back to standing.

Smith scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Kempe is looking to escape.
Smith not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Smith is pressing down on Kempe's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kempe is holding on for now.
Kempe is not content to let Smith control the position.
Smith throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Smith is trying to control the action in half guard but Kempe is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Kempe is trying to stand up here but Smith is controlling him well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Smith lands with a thumping leg kick.

Smith has Kempe pushed against the cage.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kempe looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Smith has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kempe is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Smith breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Kempe counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kempe.

Smith has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kempe avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Smith manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Tony Kempe has got the better of the ground game so far.
Kempe controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Smith has his foot on Kempe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kempe works his way back into a safe position though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kempe as he avoids it easily.

Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kempe paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Kempe throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Butch Smith will probably get the nod.
That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Kempe moves out of range of the leg kick from Smith.
Smith takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Smith tries to clinch but Kempe moves out of range.
Smith lands a head kick!

Kempe closes the distance and pushes Smith back into the cage.
Smith is looking to control Kempe's arms but Kempe gets an underhook and turns him. Now Smith has his back to the cage.
Kempe tries to pull guard but Smith holds him up against the cage and eventually Kempe drops back down to his feet.
Smith is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kempe pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Smith tries to clinch up but Kempe circles away and keeps his distance.
Kempe misses the shot to the body.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Kempe sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Butch Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kempe throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Smith circles away from the clinch attempt

and Smith counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Kempe makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Kempe shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kempe sprawls well. Kempe wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Kempe misses with some punches.

Smith successfully pulls guard.
Smith controls Kempe momentarily but Kempe frees himself.

Smith is working an open guard so Kempe takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Smith darts in and clinches Kempe up against the cage.
A bit of stalling here from Smith.
Smith can't get the takedown.
Smith is trying to force a seperation but Kempe has the dominant position.
Smith jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kempe walks away with a smile on his face. Smith gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Smith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kempe.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kempe tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kempe to the ground. Kempe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kempe tries to clinch but Smith moves away

and Smith holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Smith has Kempe pressed against the cage, preventing Kempe from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Smith's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
No luck for Smith with that takedown attempt.

and Kempe counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kempe.

Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kempe is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Smith is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kempe is aware though and is defending well.
Kempe trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

I would just about give that final round to Tony Kempe.
I think Kempe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
