Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cyrus Quinn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benito Sobral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quinn comes to the cage accompanied by 99 Problems. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cyrus Quinn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Benito Sobral!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sobral tries to close the distance and clinch up but Quinn swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Quinn scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Sobral is not content to let Quinn control the position.

Sobral has one foot on Quinn's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Quinn tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sobral swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sobral is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Quinn slips a nice elbow through Sobral's hands, connecting with Sobral's forehead.
Quinn takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Quinn throwing shots but Sobral is blocking nicely.
Quinn thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sobral's head.

Quinn seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Sobral won't allow Quinn to pass to mount.

Quinn thows a huge punch but Sobral dodges it nicely.
Quinn wants to pass the guard but Sobral is defending well.
Quinn stalling away here and it's allowed Sobral to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Quinn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Quinn is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Quinn working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Sobral's head.
Sobral preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Sobral throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Quinn counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Quinn scoring with some ground and pound.
Sobral wants to sweep here but Quinn controlling him for the moment.
Quinn is looking to work some ground and pound but Sobral has wrist control.
Quinn landing with the ground and pound.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sobral scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Quinn tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Sobral counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cyrus Quinn dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sobral looks to throw a body kick

and Quinn counters with a single leg into guard. Sobral didn't expect that.

Sobral had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Quinn is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Sobral Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Quinn's back instead.

Quinn is trying to shake Sobral off. He's managed it and has hopped back to his feet! Sobral won't be happy about giving up the dominant position.

Quinn shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Sobral manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Quinn wants to control from the top but Sobral keeps moving.

Quinn gets to his feet - Sobral follows without any prompting.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

and Quinn counters with a shoot takedown. Sobral fights it but they end up in guard.

Sobral looking for a sweep. Not yet Sobral, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sobral is trying to control the position but Quinn postures up.

Quinn avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sobral is adopting a defensive guard.
Quinn advances position into side control!
Quinn grinds an elbow into Sobral's temple.
Sobral is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Quinn asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sobral takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Quinn in side control lands a decent elbow.

Quinn stands up and beckons Sobral to his feet.
Benito Sobral seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sobral closes the distance but Quinn moves to the side

and Quinn counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Quinn.

A frustrated look appears on Sobral's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Quinn throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Sobrals head.
Quinn lands a right hand.

Quinn is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Sobral can't fight it off and eventually Quinn manages to take the fight to the floor. Sobral looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Sobral working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Quinn doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Quinn manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

and Quinn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Sobral won't be happy with that.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cyrus Quinn dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Quinn gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Quinn lands a knee to the head.
A head punch on the inside from Quinn fails to land.
Sobral takes a shot to the head.

Sobral pulls guard.
Quinn stands and throws Sobral's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Quinn is chipping away with strikes.
Sobral throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.

Sobral sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Sobral moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Quinn makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Sobral lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Quinn!

Sobral swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
