Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Bongash! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason penn! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! penn slaps away a takedown attempt from Bongash, before circling back to the center of the mat. Bongash fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Bongash changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. penn tries to avoid it but Bongash manages to keep hold of a leg and drag penn to the ground. penn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Bongash. That's going to take a lot out of him. penn closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bongash to the mat! Bongash manages to get full guard. penn wants to pass the guard but Bongash is keeping the position. penn trying to control the position from guard on top but Bongash is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. penn looking to pass the guard. Bongash keeping moving, preventing penn from controlling successfully. penn is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Bongash gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and penn decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Bongash's guard. penn thows a big elbow that misses. penn stands up and waves to Bongash to follow him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. penn drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. penn trying to control but Bongash is working from the bottom. penn controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. penn wants to control from the top but Bongash keeps moving. Bongash knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for penn on the ground. penn postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. penn wants to control from the top but Bongash keeps moving. penn looks gassed! Bongash is looking to stand up but penn isn't so interested in that idea. penn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bongash works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Bongash wants to stand and escape but penn is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Bongash shoots and misses so penn counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Bongash keeping moving, preventing penn from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. penn makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. penn trying to control but Bongash is working from the bottom. penn pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bongash is keeping the position for now. penn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. penn trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason penn dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Bongash with a poor takedown and penn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. A short right from penn on the inside. penn stops a takedown attempt from Bongash.
penn jumps guard and drags Bongash to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Bongash has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Bongash throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as penn works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Bongash throwing strikes from guard but penn blocks nicely. There's a bit of a scramble here and now penn is on top in guard.

Bongash is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Bongash manages to kick penn off! penn jumps back into Bongash's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bongash wants to stand but penn is controlling the position. Bongash trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. penn wants to control from the top but Bongash keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Bongash is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst penn is controlling him.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Bongash shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches penn napping and manages to drive through into side control! Bongash working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Bongash grinds an elbow into penn's temple. Bongash working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. penn takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Bongash advances to mount. penn is in all sorts of trouble here.
penn wants to control but Bongash is having none of it. Bongash with a couple of short strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bongash lands a nice shot to the head. Bongash pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Bongash landing shots from mount. Bongash looking to finish penn with some ground and pound. This is bad for penn! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Bongash lands a big shot there that rocks penn but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
penn tries to hold on but Bongash pushes him away. Bongash is landing with some decent strikes but penn is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Bongash working penn over with strikes here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bongash landing strikes from the mount and penn is in trouble! That's four minutes gone in the round. penn stops Bongash from standing up. penn trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. penn drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bongash looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bongash looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bongash!
And that's the end of the fight! Jason penn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think penn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
