1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ronald April! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fujita throws a head kick but April moves out of range.
Fujita avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Fujita looks to score with a jab to the body but April is just out of range. Excellent takedown into side control there by Fujita. Fujita goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, April has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Fujita but great work by April. Fujita might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. April throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Fujita is not content to let April control the position. Fujita is trying to strike from the bottom but April has passed into full mount. Fujita is trying desperately to improve position. Fujita is working hard here to advance position.

April gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Fujita counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Fujita. Fujita slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Fujita drops back, looking for a kneebar! April looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. April looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from April! Fujita is looking for a sweep. April in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Fujita is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but April is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Fujita really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Fujita is squirming around, avoiding April's attempts to control the action. Fujita is trying desperately to improve position. April lands a big shot there that rocks Fujita but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

April tries to clinch up but Fujita circles away and keeps his distance. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Fujita.
Fujita forces April back against the cage and clinches. April pulls guard successfully.
Fujita makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Fujita trying to control but April is working from the bottom. Fujita sitting in guard, not really doing much. Fujita avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Fujita gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Fujita fails to land with a series of punches.
Kazuo Fujita is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. April keeps the fight on the outside. April moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. April moves in looking to clinch but Fujita pushes him off. Fujita swats away the attempt to clinch by April. April fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. April shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Fujita as he jumps to the side. Fujita changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. April looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's two minutes gone in the round. April tries to improve position but can't. Fujita passes to full mount! That's big trouble for April! Fujita with a couple of short strikes. Fujita wants to take April's back but he can't do it this time. April is wriggling around trying to escape.
Fujita controlling the pace for now. April is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fujita is going olschool here, as he tries to force April to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so April shrugs it off. Fujita jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… April is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by April and Fujita has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Fujita wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by April, who protects the arm well. April manages to work his way to half guard, despite Fujita's best efforts.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. April trying to control but Fujita postures up.
Fujita trying to control from half guard but April is working away. Fujita perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Fujita seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down April for as long as he can get away with. Fujita thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Fujita not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that's the end of the fight! Kazuo Fujita showed his dominance in that final round. Well Fujita has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
