Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and killa joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that killa joe was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jose Rivera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, killa joe! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Rivera as joe shoots in. Rivera circles away from the clinch attempt.
joe pushes Rivera up against the cage in a clinch. Rivera has a couple of punches blocked by joe.
joe breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. joe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. joe shoots in for a takedown but Rivera shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Jose Rivera has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of killa joe. joe throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rivera's waist but Rivera gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing joe off to one side. joe misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Rivera looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for joe! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rivera prevents joe from getting the reversal. Rivera can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as joe is looking to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. joe tries to hold on but Rivera pushes him away. Rivera sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Rivera is breathing heavily. Rivera trying to control but joe is having none of it. Rivera content just to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rivera prevents joe from getting the reversal. Rivera won't let joe get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. joe is in all sorts of trouble here.
Rivera looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. joe is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Rivera seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down joe for as long as he can get away with. Rivera throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for joe because Rivera loaded up on that one. Rivera misses with a head shot. Rivera wants to control the pace but joe is squirming around nicely. Rivera misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Rivera lands a big elbow. Rivera controlling from the full mount. Rivera looking to secure an arm triangle but joe defends it well. joe tries to lock up and control but Rivera gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. joe is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Rivera darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Rivera wants to control but joe is keeping him busy. joe is controlling Rivera's position as best he can from this difficult position. joe wants to improve his position but Rivera is controlling well.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rivera is pushing down on joe's leg trying to pass to half guard. joe is fighting to maintain full guard but Rivera has managed to sneak the leg through. Rivera is taking a breather. joe says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. joe wants to get back to full guard. Rivera not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Rivera is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Rivera looking for a guillotine from mount but joe is having none of it. Rivera punishing his opponent with strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. joe is looking to get to half guard. Rivera tries to control but joe wriggling away. Rivera content just to control the position here. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if joe can do anything to dispel that myth. joe is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rivera jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but joe manages to avoid the submission attempt. Rivera tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. joe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rivera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rivera has worked his way into a potential kimura here. joe is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Rivera yanks on the arm and joe is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Rivera.
