PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Boris Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hector Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garcia comes to the cage accompanied by Essentials Feat J2K & Dynasty - "State Your Name". Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Boris Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Santos!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Garcia looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Santos keeping moving, preventing Garcia from controlling successfully.

Garcia wants to sweep here but Santos controlling him for the moment.
Santos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Garcia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Garcia is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Garcia shoots in for a takedown but Santos shows good takedown defense.

Santos tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Garcia is able to avoid easily.
Garcia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Santos.

Santos thows a big elbow that misses.

Garcia is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Garcia closes the distance and clinches up with Santos, looking for a takedown. Garcia pushes Santos against the cage but Santos circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Garcia dives in and grabs Santos's left leg, looking for a takedown. Santos pushes down on Garcia's head and hops out.

Santos is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Garcia off and has taken his back!

Santos is trying to stick to Garcia's back but Garcia is turning into Santos. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Santos's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Garcia.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Santos throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
The fight stays on the outside here - Garcia looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Santos lunges at Garcia with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Garcia's hand.
Santos throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Garcia is looking to clinch but Santos is avoiding it.
Santos tries to bum rush Garcia with a series of wild strikes but Garcia uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Garcia rushes Santos and presses him up against the cage.
Garcia misses with an elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hector Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


A jab lands there for Santos.
Garcia shoots for a double leg takedown but Santos sprawls well. He's pushed Garcia's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Garcia closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Santos did well to prevent Garcia getting side control.

Garcia is looking for a kimura but Santos is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Garcia to get the leverage.
Santos is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Garcia's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Garcia's back!

Santos throws an overhand right that lands on Garcia's shoulder, as Garcia tries to avoid the shot.

Hector Santos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Santos has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
