1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Olve Eikemo! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eikemo avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Eikemo keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Ruiz. Eikemo has taken the fight to the clinch.
Eikemo unloads a knee to the mid-section. Knees in the clinch landing for Eikemo.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Eikemo seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Eikemo throws a series of punches but Ruiz avoids them all with ease.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ruiz throws a combination that misses and Eikemo counters by clinching up. The referee calls for Eikemo to work.

Eikemo is struggling to control the position. Ruiz wants to get back to striking at distance but Eikemo won't allow it.

Ruiz seems to have got his legs back now. Ruiz has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. A frustrated look appears on Ruiz's face as he tries to break the clinch. Ruiz tries to circle away but Eikemo has him pinned against the cage. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Eikemo obliges. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Eikemo with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Ruiz swings wildly with an uppercut but Eikemo uses good head movement to avoid it. Eikemo prevents Ruiz from breaking the clinch. Ruiz wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Olve Eikemo dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Eikemo throws a sloppy head kick and Ruiz moves out of range easily. Eikemo has managed to clinch.

It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Eikemo manages to end up in side control. Ruiz is looking to reverse the position. Ruiz is trying to work for a sweep but Eikemo has mounted him! Ruiz tries to get back to half guard but can't. Eikemo is breathing heavily. Eikemo jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Ruiz manages to avoid the submission attempt. Ruiz is looking to regain half guard here but Eikemo keeps moving and retains side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eikemo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Eikemo tries to advance to mount but can't. Ruiz is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Eikemo off and has taken his back! Ruiz misses with a punch to the head. Ruiz missing with strikes from the back. Ruiz is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Ruiz is trying to stick to Eikemo's back but Eikemo is turning into Ruiz. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Ruiz's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Eikemo. Eikemo advances to half guard. Eikemo with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Ruiz is trying to get back to full guard. Eikemo looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Ruiz is trying to get back to full guard. Eikemo is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ruiz doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Eikemo.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Eikemo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Ruiz. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Olve Eikemo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Eikemo works his way back into a safe position though. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ruiz is on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruiz drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Eikemo dives on top into guard. Eikemo thows a big elbow that misses. Eikemo drops back looking for a leg! Ruiz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Ruiz manages to kick Eikemo off! Eikemo jumps back into Ruiz's guard. Ruiz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Eikemo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Ruiz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Eikemo advances nicely into full mount. Hidalgo Ruiz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Eikemo is going olschool here, as he tries to force Ruiz to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ruiz shrugs it off. Ruiz keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Eikemo is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Ruiz has managed to escape the submission attempt.

And that's the end of the fight! Olve Eikemo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Eikemo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
