Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brendan Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Pulver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). George Pulver has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Brendan Ryan's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, George Pulver!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Albert Achterberg and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pulver tries to clinch up.

Ryan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Pulver's waist but Pulver gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ryan off to one side.

Pulver wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Ryan, who protects the arm well.

Pulver has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ryan is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Ryan connects with a single shot there.

Pulver tries to close the distance and clinch but Ryan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ryan stalks Pulver and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Pulver's face. Pulver staggers backwards, shaken.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pulver tries to keep at a distance but Ryan has taken the fight into the clinch.

Ryan decides to pull guard.
Pulver controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pulver accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Pulver is looking to work some ground and pound but Ryan has wrist control.
Ryan is trying to keep Pulver in close.
Ryan wants to stand and escape but Pulver is having none of it.
Ryan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Ryan lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Pulver or not.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
