Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beard Guy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Guy comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Why Can't We Be Friends? kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Shawn Rogers has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Shawn Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Beard Guy!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rogers shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Guy's guard.
Guy is trying to hold Rogers in close to prevent damage but Rogers has managed to pass into half guard.
Rogers thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Guy's head.
Rogers is looking to take a break and control but Guy is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like Rogers is going to stand back up.

Guy looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Rogers throwing shots but Guy is blocking nicely.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Guy misses with a takedown

and Rogers counters with a takedown into side control.

Rogers has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Rogers shoots for a takedown but Guy saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rogers looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Guy is fending him off so far but Rogers persists. Nope, Guy circles away and we're back to standing.

Guy gets the takedown into side control.
Rogers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Guy is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Rogers's shoulder. That is not cool.
Rogers is trying to control Guy's posture but Guy avoids it.
Guy wants to stand but Rogers has his arm trapped.
Rogers is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Guy's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Guy wants to control but Rogers is keeping him busy.
Guy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rogers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Guy is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Rogers has managed to free his arm - good work.
Guy looks gassed!

Rogers trying to control but Guy postures up.
Rogers gets full guard.
Guy preventing the sweep.
Rogers might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Guy looking to sit in guard and control but Rogers gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Rogers keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Guy's head.
Rogers is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Rogers missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Rogers slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Rogers looks up at the clock and then as Guy takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Rogers smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Guy can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rogers thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Rogers is trying to get an arm triangle but Guy is defending well.
Guy is trying to control Rogers's posture but Rogers avoids it.

Rogers wants to lay and pray for a moment but Guy keeps working.

Rogers lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Guy is throwing a few token shots, despite Rogers being in side control.
Guy is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rogers stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Rogers wants it to stay on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Guy. No joy for Rogers on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shawn Rogers. That's going to take a lot out of him.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Shawn Rogers will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Rogers feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Shawn Rogers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rogers lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Rogers stands and steps away. Guy gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Guy tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rogers swivels and escapes.

Rogers moves into the clinch.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

and Guy counters with a shoot takedown. Rogers fights it but they end up in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rogers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Guy thows a big elbow that misses.
Guy wanted to stand there but Rogers had control of the position.
Rogers trying to keep a closed guard but Guy is proving a slippery customer.
Rogers manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Guy tries to lock up and control but Rogers gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Guy can't escape the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Guy wants to hold on but Rogers pushes him away.
Rogers landing strikes from the mount and Guy is in trouble!

Guy tries to buck Rogers off but Rogers takes his back!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Rogers's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Rogers is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Rogers gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Rogers gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Rogers apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Rogers tries to score with a low kick but Guy moves his leg out of the way.

and Rogers counters with a single leg into guard. Guy didn't expect that.
Rogers wants to control from the top but Guy keeps moving.
Guy is trying to control the position but Rogers postures up.

Rogers drops back looking for a leg! Guy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Guy manages to kick Rogers off! Rogers jumps back into Guy's guard.
Guy doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Rogers is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Guy keeping moving, preventing Rogers from controlling successfully.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Shawn Rogers just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Guy misses with a takedown

and Rogers decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Guy's guard.
Shawn Rogers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Beard Guy.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Guy is working an open guard so Rogers takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rogers tries to score a power double leg takedown but Guy sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rogers somewhat.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Guy lands a nice shot that snaps Rogers's head back.

Rogers has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Guy is working away from the top position though.

Guy wants to stand up but Rogers is controlling the position.
Rogers manages to get to full guard.
Rogers is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Rogers manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Rogers throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Guy was covering up waiting for the punch and Rogers finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Beard Guy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Guy lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Rogers!

Rogers wants to control but Guy is having none of it.

Guy has hold of Rogers's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rogers manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Poor strikes thrown by Guy there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Rogers is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rogers sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rogers is working for a submission of some sort.
Rogers is thwarting Guy's attempts to control the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
Shawn Rogers showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rogers, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
