The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzales tries to score a power double leg takedown but Le Tank sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gonzales somewhat. Hank Le Tank seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Le Tank misses with a hook. Gonzales ducked under it nicely. Le Tank fails with an attempt to clinch.
Le Tank ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Gonzales moves away. A big right from Gonzales misses. Le Tank feints and as Gonzales raises his hands in defense, Le Tank changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Le Tank must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Le Tank thows a big elbow that misses. Le Tank loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Gonzales is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Gonzales looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Le Tank tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Nice straight punches there by Le Tank. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Le Tank. Gonzales shoots for a double leg takedown but Le Tank sprawls well. He's pushed Gonzales's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Le Tank with a lazy takedown attempt and Gonzales counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Le Tank! Gonzales prevents Le Tank from getting the reversal. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Le Tank bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Le Tank stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gonzales swivels though and keeps the full guard. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Gonzales tries to get out of the position. Le Tank lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Gonzales has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Le Tank can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Le Tank throws a big right hand that misses. Le Tank is in close to Gonzales's body, working some short punches and elbows. Gonzales keeping moving, preventing Le Tank from controlling successfully. Le Tank throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gonzales works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Gonzales wants to get back to his feet but Le Tank is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Le Tank content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Le Tank is in close to Gonzales's body, working some short punches and elbows. Le Tank is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Le Tank accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hank Le Tank dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gonzales shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Le Tank is trying to defend but Gonzales finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Gonzales wants to control but Le Tank is keeping him busy. Le Tank is looking for a sweep. Gonzales is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Le Tank gets full guard. Gonzales in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Le Tank seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Le Tank is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Now he's in top in Le Tank's guard. Gonzales postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Le Tank pushes Gonzales off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Le Tank clinches up against the cage. Le Tank is trying to force a seperation but Gonzales has the dominant position. Le Tank tries a knee to the head but Gonzales blocks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Le Tank is pressed up against the cage. Gonzales has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Le Tank down to the mat. Le Tank avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Le Tank throws a nice looking combination but Gonzales bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Le Tank throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gonzales was covering up waiting for the punch and Le Tank finishes the takedown easily into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gonzales bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Hank Le Tank showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Le Tank tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Gonzales is able to avoid easily. Le Tank looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Le Tank fails with the takedown and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Le Tank closes the distance but Gonzales moves to the side and Gonzales counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Le Tank! Gonzales looking to ground and pound but Le Tank is blocking nicely. Gonzales wants to control the pace but Le Tank is squirming around nicely. Le Tank is trying desperately to improve position. Gonzales cracks Le Tank with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
That's one minute gone in the round. Le Tank tries to hold on but Gonzales pushes him away. Poor strikes thrown by Gonzales there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Le Tank holds on to Gonzales around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks. Gonzales throwing strikes but Le Tank recovers to half guard. A much better position. Gonzales thows a huge punch but Le Tank dodges it nicely.
Le Tank is not content to let Gonzales control the position. Gonzales wants to pass to mount but Le Tank is defending the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Le Tank trying to control from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Le Tank waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Gonzales. Le Tank throws a head kick that misses. Le Tank tries to clinch but Gonzales moves away and Gonzales counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Gonzales changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Le Tank fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Le Tank utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Le Tank keeping moving, preventing Gonzales from controlling successfully. Le Tank avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Gonzales postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Le Tank is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gonzales, into his guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Le Tank works over Gonzales with some ground and pound from guard. Le Tank tries to free his leg and advance position but Gonzales is retaining full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Gonzales has momentary wrist control but Le Tank slips an elbow through the middle. Gonzales uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Le Tank turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Le Tank throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gonzales's waist but Gonzales gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Le Tank off to one side. Gonzales doesn't succeed with the takedown and Le Tank counters with a takedown into side control. Le Tank working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Gonzales takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Le Tank stands up. Pancho Gonzales has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hank Le Tank is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Gonzales fails in his attempt to clinch.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pancho Gonzales. Well Le Tank has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality.
