Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kirill Dostoevsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Grey Te Whena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Te Whena is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Garden Knome - Barbarella. Grey Te Whena will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kirill Dostoevsky ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Grey Te Whena! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Te Whena slips under a jab. Te Whena with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Dostoevsky misses with a series of wild punches.
Te Whena throws a right and a left that both miss. Te Whena throws a nice inside leg kick. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Dostoevsky . Dostoevsky tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Te Whena swivels and escapes. Dostoevsky shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Te Whena as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kirill Dostoevsky . That's going to take a lot out of him. Dostoevsky closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Te Whena to the mat! Te Whena manages to get full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dostoevsky loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Te Whena throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Dostoevsky really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dostoevsky accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Te Whena is looking to stand up but Dostoevsky isn't so interested in that idea. Te Whena seems keen to control Dostoevsky 's posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Dostoevsky wants to control from the top but Te Whena keeps moving. Dostoevsky has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Dostoevsky closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Te Whena to the mat! Te Whena manages to get full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Te Whena preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Dostoevsky trying to control but Te Whena is working from the bottom. Dostoevsky scoring with punches to the head and body. Te Whena looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Te Whena can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Dostoevsky controls the pace. Te Whena controls Dostoevsky momentarily but Dostoevsky frees himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Te Whena wants to stand up but Dostoevsky is controlling him. Dostoevsky slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kirill Dostoevsky dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Dostoevsky shoots in looking for a takedown. Te Whena tries to sprawl out of it but Dostoevsky keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Te Whena manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Kirill Dostoevsky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dostoevsky dives in and grabs Te Whena's left leg, looking for a takedown. Te Whena pushes down on Dostoevsky 's head and hops out. Dostoevsky throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Te Whena. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Te Whena rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dostoevsky moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Dostoevsky throws a left and a right that both miss
and Te Whena counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Dostoevsky throws a right and a left that Te Whena avoids nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dostoevsky will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kirill Dostoevsky . That's going to take a lot out of him. Dostoevsky shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Te Whena counters with a left and a right that stings Dostoevsky . Dostoevsky throws a nice looking combination but Te Whena bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Dostoevsky scores a takedown into full mount! Te Whena sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Te Whena is trying to maintain the position but Dostoevsky is very close to passing his half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dostoevsky content to control rather than advance. Te Whena moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Te Whena wants to sweep but no luck.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dostoevsky trying to control the position from guard on top but Te Whena is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dostoevsky lands a couple of elbows. Dostoevsky trying to control but Te Whena is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Te Whena keeping full guard, as Dostoevsky tries to pass. Dostoevsky stays in close to Te Whena's body and controls the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Te Whena avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Dostoevsky trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Te Whena manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Dostoevsky throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Dostoevsky striking off his back but it's not causing Te Whena any problems. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Grey Te Whena will probably get the nod - 10:9. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Te Whena works Dostoevsky 's body with a nice hook. Dostoevsky closes this distance looking for a takedown but Te Whena circles away. Dostoevsky tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Te Whena was well out of range. Poor timing from Dostoevsky . Te Whena will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Dostoevsky shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Te Whena counters with a good, hard body kick but Dostoevsky shrugs it off. Dostoevsky with a poor takedown and Te Whena counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kirill Dostoevsky . That's going to take a lot out of him. Dostoevsky misses with a double jab
and Te Whena counters with a nice kick to the body. Te Whena throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Te Whena with a lazy takedown attempt so Dostoevsky counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Te Whena working a defensive guard but Dostoevsky manages to pass into side control anyway.
Te Whena prevents Dostoevsky from improving position. Te Whena wants to control but Dostoevsky postures up. Te Whena has one of Dostoevsky 's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage. Dostoevsky is working Te Whena over with some ground and pound from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dostoevsky throwing strikes but Te Whena manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Dostoevsky tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Te Whena wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Dostoevsky wants to control but Te Whena postures up. Dostoevsky is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Dostoevsky is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Te Whena decides to stand back up. Te Whena displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dostoevsky . Te Whena lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dostoevsky slips a jab and a cross from Te Whena.
Te Whena lands with a nice combination. Dostoevsky backs away looking to recover. Dostoevsky shoots in for a takedown but Te Whena shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Te Whena lands a head kick!
Dostoevsky shoots in and bounces Te Whena off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Te Whena is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Grey Te Whena. I think Te Whena has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
