Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Freddy Krueger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Hearns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Hearns's choice of entrance music: Darude - Sandstorm. Thomas Hearns has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Freddy Krueger!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Thomas Hearns!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hearns rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Krueger moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hearns misses with a series of wild punches.
Krueger misses with a wild body shot.
Krueger misses with a body shot.
Krueger misses with a straight right.
Hearns throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Krueger.
Krueger misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hearns misses with a double jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hearns misses with the combination.
Hearns keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Thomas Hearns is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Krueger misses with a hook. Hearns ducked under it nicely.
Krueger will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Krueger. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hearns slips a jab from Krueger.

Krueger closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hearns to the mat! Hearns manages to get full guard.
Hearns is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Krueger might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Krueger is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Krueger throws a big right hand that misses.
Hearns wants to stand and escape but Krueger is having none of it.

Krueger throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Hearns wants to stand but Krueger has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Hearns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Krueger swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Krueger throws a hook to the side of Hearns's head but Hearns sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Krueger moves out of range of the strikes.
Hearns looks to throw the jab but Krueger is out of range.
Hearns walks into a straight right hand from Krueger.
Hearns slips under a jab from Krueger.
Hearns misses with a body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hearns lands with a straight right. Krueger didn't see that one coming.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Krueger.
Krueger has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Krueger there as he acknowledges the shot.
Krueger shoots in looking for a takedown. Hearns tries to sprawl out of it but Krueger keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hearns manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Hearns throws a nice looking combination but Krueger bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Krueger fails with a takedown attempt.
Krueger closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hearns circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Krueger shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Krueger was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Krueger cracks Hearns with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hearns is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Hearns is desperately trying to improve his position but Krueger has a good base and remains in mount.
Hearns wants to control but Krueger is having none of it.
Krueger prevents Hearns from getting the reversal.
Hearns is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Hearns somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Freddy Krueger will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Krueger shoots in but no luck this time.
A left lands for Hearns.
Hearns looks to land a left hand but Krueger moved out of range nicely.
Krueger misses with a jab to the body
and Hearns counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Krueger shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Krueger lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
BOOM! Krueger connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hearns taking shots to the head.
Hearns keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Krueger throws some wild stikes that Hearns manages to avoid easily.

Hearns wants to control but Krueger is having none of it.
Krueger is landing with some decent strikes but Hearns is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Krueger lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Hearns is looking to get to half guard.
Krueger throwing strikes here but Hearns is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Krueger fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
You get the feeling that Hearns really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The referee warns Hearns that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Krueger with shots to the head and body - Hearns looks very uncomfortable down there.
Krueger breaks from Hearns's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Freddy Krueger overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee warns Hearns that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Krueger wants to control the pace but Hearns is squirming around nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hearns can do anything to dispel that myth.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hearns really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Krueger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hearns tries to lock up and control but Krueger gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Krueger lands with some strikes.
Krueger lands a nice shot to the head.
Krueger is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hearns can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Hearns is wriggling around trying to escape.
Krueger connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Krueger jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hearns manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Krueger throws an elbow but Hearns slips to the side and avoids it well.
Hearns pushes Krueger away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Krueger gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Hearns dodges the ground and pound from Krueger.
Krueger tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Hearns can't do much from the bottom here.

Krueger goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hearns has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Krueger but great work by Hearns.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Krueger tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hearns wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Hearns tries to bum rush Krueger with a series of wild strikes but Krueger uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Krueger takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Hearns paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Hearns connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Krueger tumbling to the canvas! Hearns pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Krueger was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Thomas Hearns!
