Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mariano Barbossa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Raphael Solo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raphael Solo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mariano Barbossa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Raphael Solo! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Solo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Barbossa swivels and escapes. Barbossa shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Solo counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Barbossa! Solo is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Barbossa is surviving well by controlling Solo's body position as best he can. Barbossa tries to hold on but Solo postures up. Solo jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Barbossa manages to avoid the submission attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barbossa is looking for a sweep. Solo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Barbossa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Solo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Barbossa, who protects the arm well. Barbossa throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Barbossa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Barbossa tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Solo is trying to get an arm triangle but Barbossa is defending well. Barbossa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Solo wants to control but Barbossa is keeping him busy. Solo remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Barbossa wants to control but Solo postures up. Solo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Barbossa rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Solo's guard! Nice work there by Barbossa! Solo is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Barbossa wanted to stand there but Solo had control of the position. Barbossa trying to control the position from guard on top but Solo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Barbossa postures up.
Solo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Barbossa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Solo looks gassed! Solo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Barbossa controls the pace. Solo is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Barbossa defends well. Barbossa won't allow Solo to sweep him here.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Solo tries for a takedown but Barbossa circles away easily and Barbossa counters with a nice double leg into side control. Solo won't be happy with that. Barbossa is chipping away with strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Barbossa wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Solo, who protects the arm well. Solo gets back to half guard. Solo is refusing to be controlled, as Barbossa sits in half guard. Barbossa seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Solo is pressing down on Barbossa's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Barbossa looking to pass the guard. Barbossa loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Solo had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Barbossa is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Solo Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Barbossa's back instead. Solo trying to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Good control from Solo. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Solo's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Barbossa is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Barbossa turns into Solo and is now in his guard.
Barbossa drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Barbossa as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Solo screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Barbossa! Nice submission victory there!
