Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Cornwall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Hazlitt! The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Cornwall crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Hazlitt - the referee stops the clock and Cornwall gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Hazlitt. Cornwall manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Hazlitt fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Cornwall looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Cornwall clinches up with Hazlitt and pushes him back against the cage. Cornwall fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hazlitt is working for takedown but Cornwall is calmly controlling the position for now. Hazlitt drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Cornwall gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Cornwall pulls guard successfully.
Hazlitt wants to control from the top but Cornwall keeps moving. Cornwall is trying to keep Hazlitt in close.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Hazlitt stopping the sweep attempt from Cornwall. Cornwall throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cornwall looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hazlitt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cornwall. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Hazlitt stopping the sweep attempt from Cornwall. Hazlitt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cornwall has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hazlitt has managed to get both his arms back between Cornwall's legs - danger averted. Cornwall looking for a triangle here. Hazlitt is fighting it but it looks tight! Cornwall pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Hazlitt is tapping out - this one is all over!
