Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kha Ri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johannes Vaulen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vaulen comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I Love Norwegian Country kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johannes Vaulen!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ri throws out a loose jab but Vaulen uses good head movement to avoid it.
Vaulen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ri swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Vaulen avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Ri misses with the combination.
Ri throws a hook but Vaulen avoids it easily.
Ri just misses with a punch to the body.
A head kick misses from Ri.
Vaulen staying out of range there.
Vaulen fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ri lands with a right hand.
Ri misses with a straight right.
Vaulen tries to close the distance and clinch but Ri swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ri tries to land a front kick but Vaulen steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Ri throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ri throws a head kick but Vaulen moves out of range.
Vaulen steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Ri.
Nice defenses there by Ri.
Ri looks to throw the jab but Vaulen is out of range.
Ri lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Vaulen moves in looking to clinch but Ri pushes him off.
Ri throws out a powerful jab.
Ri looks to land a combination but Vaulen avoids it well.
Ri tries to bum rush Vaulen with a series of wild strikes but Vaulen uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A slow jab from Ri misses its intended target.

Vaulen ducks under a wild hook from Ri.
Ri lands a body shot.
Ri misses with a low kick.
Ri is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vaulen.
Vaulen slips a straight right by Ri.
Kha Ri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ri misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Kha Ri is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Ri just misses with a punch to the body.
Ri misses with a body shot.
Ri misses with an uppercut. Vaulen saw that one coming.
Vaulen slips a jab and a cross from Ri.

Ri throws a series of punches but Vaulen moves out of range.
Ri lands with a straight right. Vaulen didn't see that one coming.
Ri misses the shot to the body.
A swing and a miss from Ri.
A big right from Ri misses.

Vaulen slips a straight right by Ri.
Vaulen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Ri was covering up waiting for the punch and Vaulen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vaulen with a flurry of punches that miss.

Ri is looking to stand up but Vaulen isn't so interested in that idea.

Ri manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vaulen manages to get himself to full guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kha Ri dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ri swats away the attempt to clinch by Vaulen.
Vaulen tries to clinch up.
Vaulen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ri just misses with a punch to the body.
Ri fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Vaulen manages to avoid it.
Vaulen walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Vaulen has Ri up against the cage in a clinch.
Ri can't break the clinch.
Vaulen looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Ri wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Vaulen has him pressed against the cage.
Vaulen with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
A short uppercut from Vaulen.
Vaulen looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Vaulen trying to land knees to the body.
Ri is trying to force a seperation but Vaulen has the dominant position.
The is referee keeping an eye on Ri - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Ri blocks the elbow strike.
Vaulen throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Ri is trying to break free.
Vaulen swings wildly with an uppercut but Ri uses good head movement to avoid it.
Vaulen looking for a takedown.
Vaulen throws an elbow but it misses.
Ri avoids a wild elbow strike from Vaulen.
Vaulen throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Vaulen has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ri is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Vaulen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kha Ri has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johannes Vaulen.
Ri prevents a takedown attempt there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
A frustrated look appears on Ri's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Ri blocks an elbow strike from Vaulen.
Vaulen tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Vaulen is breathing heavily.
Ri avoids the elbow strike from Vaulen, against the cage.
Ri breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Ri misses with a straight right.
Ri misses with a leg kick.
Ri throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Ri thows a body shot but no joy.
Ri on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Vaulen staying out of range there.
Ri dances in with a quick combination. Vaulen is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Ri snaps Vaulen's head back. Vaulen stumbles backwards against the cage. Ri steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Vaulen's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Vaulen just didn't come prepared.
