Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Wein! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mikhail Tokarev! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paulsen Ambrosius and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wein goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
It looks like Mikhail Tokarev has been cut. Wein throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Nice takedown defense from Wein. No joy for Tokarev on that attempt. Tokarev shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wein as he jumps to the side. Tokarev tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wein swats him away and circles back towards the center. Wein throws a right hand that Tokarev ducks under and follows up with a left that Tokarev also avoids with ease. A slow jab from Wein misses its intended target. Wein thows a body shot but no joy. Wein throws a nice looking combination but Tokarev bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Wein throws a right and a left that both miss. Tokarev dives in and grabs Wein's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wein pushes down on Tokarev's head and hops out. John Wein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikhail Tokarev. Wein lands with a nice combination. Tokarev backs away looking to recover.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tokarev looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wein is fending him off so far but Tokarev persists. Nope, Wein circles away and we're back to standing. Wein stuffs the takedown attempt from Tokarev. Tokarev gets slowly back to his feet. Tokarev looks gassed! Wein connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Tokarev momentarily.
Wein throws and low kick but Tokarev moves out of range easily. Wein fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wein misses the shot to the body. Tokarev shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wein napping and manages to drive through into side control! Wein is not content to let Tokarev control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tokarev advances to full mount. Wein is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Wein keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tokarev wants to control the pace but Wein is squirming around nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tokarev landing shots from mount. Tokarev moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Wein has worked his arm free - good work by Wein!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wein tries to escape but Tokarev is in control. Tokarev decides to stand back up. Tokarev shoots for a takedown but Wein saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Wein throws a solid leg kick but Tokarev takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Wein. Tokarev displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wein throws out the jab. Tokarev closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Tokarev has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Wein avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Wein has Tokarev pushed against the cage. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wein is trying to stall.
Wein lands a nice knee to the body. Tokarev wants to get back to striking at distance but Wein won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Wein dominated that round. The cut man is working on Mikhail Tokarev's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Tokarev gets in close and instigates a clinch. Wein holding his opponent close, against the cage.
A nice right hand lands inside from Wein. Wein working Tokarev over with knees to the body. Wein makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Tokarev tries to pull guard but Wein won't allow it.
Tokarev's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Wein manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Tokarev tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wein smiles and moves away.
Tokarev wants to clinch. Tokarev shoots in but Wein avoids the takedown attempt easily. John Wein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikhail Tokarev.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wein just misses with a punch to the body.
Tokarev fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Wein swings away with a leg kick that misses. Tokarev displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wein throws out the jab. Tokarev checks a low kick from Wein. Wein scores with a jab. Tokarev acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Tokarev shoots in and bounces Wein off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Tokarev prevents Wein from getting back to his feet. Wein keeping moving, preventing Tokarev from controlling successfully. Wein wants to stand and escape but Tokarev is having none of it. Tokarev trying to control the position from guard on top but Wein is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wein has his feet on Tokarev's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tokarev closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Wein keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Wein looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Tokarev is trying to control. Wein wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Tokarev is taking a breather. Wein says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Tokarev lands strikes from half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wein is trying to stand.
Tokarev not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Tokarev trying to control the action but Wein is working from the bottom. Tokarev looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Tokarev frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Mikhail Tokarev will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Mikhail Tokarev's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Tokarev. Wein has taken the fight to the clinch.

Tokarev has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wein down to the mat. Wein avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Wein throws a nice looking combination but Tokarev bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Wein tries to bum rush Tokarev with a series of wild strikes but Tokarev uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Wein fails in his attempt to clinch. Tokarev fails with a takedown attempt. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. No luck for Tokarev with that takedown attempt. Wein avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Tokarev fails with a takedown attempt. John Wein is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A combination from Wein does no damage. Tokarev shoots in but no luck this time. Wein lands with a nice combination. Tokarev backs away looking to recover. Wein takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Wein moves in looking to clinch but Tokarev pushes him off. Wein fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wein keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Wein is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Wein feints and then cracks Tokarev's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Tokarev down. No luck for Tokarev with that takedown attempt. Tokarev tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wein paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tokarev takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.

Tokarev shoots in but no luck this time. John Wein is winning the standup battle so far. Tokarev on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Tokarev throws a head kick that misses. Tokarev shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wein defends it nicely. Wein lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tokarev at a distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tokarev is defended easily by Wein. Wein tries to close the distance and clinch but Tokarev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Tokarev shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Wein sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Tokarev is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Wein has managed to free his arm - good work. Wein gets back to full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! John Wein showed his dominance in that final round. I think Wein has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
